My latest collection of Bon Bon Applique Templates are single gorgeous shapes to use over and over again for creative leafy and petally applique!
I have revamped the overall size of the templates to fit comfortably into sewing baskets or craft bags and called them Bon Bon Buddies because they will be a constant little friend and tool for your applique.
With ten new designs, Bon Bon Buddies are 120mm x 120mm (4 3/4″ x 4 3/4″) square and they will only be available on this website as boxed sets of five which is a considerable saving on individual RRP prices. The cut-out shapes are so easy and accurate to trace and you will wonder how you ever managed without them!
I am using my Buddies extensively already! Extend your imagination to see beyond the actual shape and to flip, rotate, and use multiples of one or more shapes in one construction element, and also in your overall design. Use Bon Bon Buddies to trace directly inside the cut out shape onto your applique fabrics and then cut the fabric pieces out with a small seam allowance added. Or use the Buddies to assist in the drawing of your own block designs as well. You will be amazed at the combinations and the endless design options that are possible.
And don’t forget that these wonderful little tools, as well as the entire collection of Bon Bon Applique Templates, can be used for all other craft applications such as quilting, embroidery, stenciling and much more!
Click over to the Bon Bon Shop to see the entire range including the two new Buddies Sets. (In the shop you will need to click on the images to see all five shapes in each Buddies set.)

THE BEST WAY TO USE BON BON APPLIQUE TEMPLATES is either to select a ‘theme’ and use a restricted palette of shapes OR simply cut lots of leaf and petal shapes and then play with them on your background fabric until your design ideas emerge. If you are working on a symmetrical design, I would suggest that you press the centre lines and use a ruler to check distances when you trial and place the shapes.
Try to think past the initial Bon Bon shape as well!! You can invent wonderful flowers if you flip and rotate and merge the shapes. It just takes a bit of imagination and you can draw them on paper first to check your ideas. There are endless variations and possibilities and it is such FUN to create your own designs using these simple tools.
In addition, the cut-out ‘negative’ shapes are so easy and accurate to trace onto your applique fabrics. Use a fine sandpaper board so that the fabric won’t slide when you are marking. Trace with your applique marker on the inside of the Bon Bon cut-out shape, directly onto the right side of the fabric for needleturn applique and remember to add a seam allowance when cutting out the fabric shape. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions if you are using alternative applique methods.
These templates are so useful that they can also be used for tracing quilting designs (hand or machine quilting), marking embroidery designs, cutting felt shapes, stenciling work and also for scrap booking and many other craft applications.
